Turkish media reports Galatasaray have made offer for Krzysztof Piatek

Hertha striker could leave this January
According to a report by Yakup Çinar of Turkish sports outlet Fanatik, Galatasaray have made an offer to Hertha BSC for out-of-favour striker Krzysztof Piatek. Çinar wrote on Twitter today that the offer is for a loan with an option to buy.

Piatek has been used sparingly this season after a long injury rehabilitation left him sidelined to start the year. Recently he has been passed in the pecking order by veterans Stevan Jovetic and Ishak Belfodil, as well as loan Davie Selke being preferred-such as against Dortmund this weekend-as a late subsitute up front when a lead needs to be protected. Piatek has not started since exactly one month ago against Union Berlin, not once in four matches under new manager Tayfun Korkut, and has a single goal on the season, coming in a previous loss to SC Freiburg.

Piatek has been rumoured to be one of a group of several players that Hertha would like to move on from, and would presumably also prefer a move to a club where he can pick up more minutes in an attempt to redsicover the form that saw him score an impressive 21 goals for Genoa and AC Milan in the 2018-19 Serie A campaign.

How much Hertha could be able to recoup from the 27 million Euros they bought him for in January 2020 remains to be seen, as well as if Piatek himself is willing to make the move to Istanbul, or hold out for a different opportunity.

Galatasaray have struggled this season relative to expectations and currently sit 11th in the Super Lig table.
