Well wishes for Klos come first after Stuttgart-Bielefeld draw
A hard clash of heads between Arminia Bielefeld teammates Fabian Klos and Alessandro Schöpf in second-half stoppage time against Stuttgart on Saturday landed the former in the hospital.
After the 1-1 draw concluded, most of the post-match comments revolved around well-wishes for the fallen DSC legend.
VfB Stuttgart trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo might have found himself answering questions about his team's squandered chances in a 1-1 draw away at Bielefeld on Saturday afternoon. Instead, a hard-collision in second-half stoppage time left both the VfB trainer and club sporting director a bit preoccupied with the status of DSC striker Fabian Klos.
After the 1-1 draw concluded, most of the post-match comments revolved around well-wishes for the fallen DSC legend.
Klos inadvertently knocked heads with Alessandro Schöpf near the full-time whistle. Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic immediately recognized the severity of the injury and even helped the DSC medical staff carry the stretcher onto the field.
The Austrian attacker received an appreciate round of applause from the Bielefeld faithful, who fell silent in shock as soon as Klos hit the turf.
"I hope it's not as bad for Fabian Klos as it looked on the monitor," Matarazzo said afterward.
"I hope Fabian is doing as well as he possibly can at the moment," VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat added in his own post-match interview.
Bielefeld have thus far only confirmed that the 34-year-old club legend has been admitted to a local hospital. The club's social media account promises further updates after wishing it's "Footballing God" a speedy recovery.
Wir wünschen unserem Fußballgott Fabian Klos gute Besserung 🙏

After the obligatory business of addressing the injury was done, Matarazzo did lament his side's missed chances. The American trainer also noted that his team "didn't cope with Bielefeld's shape particularly well."
Arminia head-coach Frank Kramer lauded his team for not giving up and furnishing a respectable response to the previous round's debacle in Mainz.
"What the lads invested after [falling behind early] is in line with what the fans expect," Kramer noted, "We know that we have to work hard for every point and value the result in this case."
