Sommer and Onisiwo agree that Mainz could have beaten Gladbach

Speaking after Sunday's 1-1 draw between Gladbach and Mainz at Borussia-Park, Yann Sommer and Karim Onisiwo agreed that the away side could have won the game after a dominant second-half display.
Borussia Mönchengladbach and Mainz 05 shared the spoils on Sunday evening as they drew 1-1 at Borussia Park.

Gladbach found themselves 1-0 up at the break thanks to Breel Embolo's opener, but Mainz dominated the game after the break and eventually found the equaliser.

At the end of the day, the home side were a little lucky to escape with a draw, according to Gladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer and Karim Onisiwo, who scored Mainz's goal.

"For me, it's better when we play a better second half because we were playing at home, and there were a lot of people back in the stadium," said Sommer, who made a ton of saves, in an interview with Bundesliga.com.

"We then played a second half like this, which was sad. But of course, in the end, we will take this point. When we see the second half, I think they could have won as well."

Onisiwo, who netted his fourth Bundesliga goal of the campaign, said:

"We really turned things around in the second half, and the coach made a few changes. These made a difference straight away. To be perfectly honest, we could have won the game with the chances we had. "
