Fredi Bobic's sensational dismal as Hertha BSC's chief personnel executive over the weekend has led the 51-year-old former German national team player and long-time German football administrator to undertake a full professional retreat. On Thursday it was confirmed that Bobic would be leaving his post at the German League Body responsible for overseeing the business of the country's top two professional footballing flights.

In a sudden, totally unforeseen turn-of-events, the manager recently linked with the director's post at the German F.A. vacated by Oliver Bierhoff may have to take many years to re-build his managerial career, if he can at all. Bobic's success at the helm of the Eintracht Frankfurt office is now overshadowed by less than stellar results in charge of Stuttgart and spectacular failure at Hertha.

German footballing elder statesman Hans Joachim Watzke of Borussia Dortmund - who also sits on the DFL supervisory board - issued a statement expressing "regret" that his colleague had opted to resign. The DFL will need to find a replacement for Bobic, who sat on many committees, during a general meeting in March.
