Upset over the nature of Dayot Upamecano's sending off on a red card in the 8th minute, Nagelsmann confronted Welz and his colleagues in the dressing room after the full-time-whistle, calling them a "weak bunch" among other more vulgar and insinuative things. The DFB's website took note of Nagelsmann's quick apology in issuing its ruling.
Unlike the suspended Upamecano, Nagelsmann will be available to coach his team during Sunday's showdown with 1. FC Union Berlin. Moreover, Nagelsmann's fine will only amount to €50,000. A statement on the DFB's website references Nagelsmann's apology as the primary reason why greater punctuative measures were not taken.
