Hoeness optimistic to keep Guirassy despite release clause

With Serhou Guirassy's €15 million release clause set to expire tonight, Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness believes the striker will stay.
Update: According to Sky Germany, the release clause in Guirassy's contract has already expired.

Until 23:59 tonight, interested clubs can put €15 million on the table to activate a release clause in Serhou Guirassy's contract with VfB Stuttgart.

Nottingham Forest, West Ham United and Newcastle United have all been linked with the striker, but Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness believes he will stay.

"Serhou makes a calm and well-balanced impression, he is totally committed. We also have arguments why it could be nice to stay here. Serhou knows what he has at VfB," Hoeness is quoted as saying by Bild.

"He is popular and feels at home. In addition, we have high quality in the team and he sees that. I remain optimistic."

Guirassy impressed on loan at Stuttgart last season, finding the net 14 times in 28 games.

Stuttgart then signed him permanently from Rennes for a reported fee of €9 million.
