After starting and scoring against the United States, Niclas Füllkrug has found the back of the net eight times in 10 games for Germany, but only four of those appearances have been from the start.

In an interview with Kicker, the Borussia Dortmund striker has expressed his desire to start more often under new Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann than he did under Hansi Flick, saying he's done everything he can to put himself in a good position to start.

"I've scored eight goals in 10 appearances and have done everything I can to start more often. Sometimes the coach (former Germany coach Hansi Flick) decided against it, but I was always able to contribute," Füllkrug said.

"I want to be the first option at number nine, at least for the type of striker I am, and help the team with my style. That's worked pretty well so far, as long as I've been on the pitch," he added.
