Löw: Selke must develop further to earn a national team call-up

Joachim Löw says Hertha BSC's Davie Selke has to develop further before a call-up to the German national team could come into question.

Davie Selke appeared for Germany at every youth level, but is still to make his debut for his country's senior side at the age of 24.

And the Hertha BSC striker, who scored four goals in the 2018/19 campaign, still has some way to go before a call-up could come into question, says Germany coach Joachim Löw.

"Davie Selke is a great type of player with incredible commitment and speed. These are positive basic qualities. But he has to take a step forward in terms of his development," Löw told Kicker and added:

"I would like to see such a player score 12-15 goals in a single season before he can do anything decisive for the German national team."

Selke made 15 appearances for the German under-21 national team, scoring nine times.
