VfB Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has revealed that the club previously considered a move for Borussia Dortmund forward Fabio Silva.

The 24-year-old was handed his first league start of the term alongside Serhou Guirassy in BVB's 3-0 win against Paderborn, with the pair immediately combining as Silva scored following an assist from the former Stuttgart striker.

Speaking on Sky90 - die Fußball-Debatte, Wohlgemuth revealed that VfB had also looked at the Portuguese attacker before his move to the Westfalenstadion.

“We also looked at him around a year ago,” the Stuttgart sporting director said.

“Obviously, he is in a good spell at the moment, and Dortmund can therefore be happy that they have him.”

Silva has scored four and laid on one assist across five appearances this term, as he aims to become a regular part of Niko Kovac's plans moving forward, while Dortmund prepare for a clash against Stuttgart on Saturday.
