Paderborn chief: 'Jairo Riedewald is and remains an interesting player'

SC Paderborn boss Martin Przondziono says Crystal Palace's Jairo Riedewald remains an interesting player even though the Bundesliga club missed out on signing the 22-year-old before the transfer window closed.
SC Paderborn were on the verge of landing Crystal Palace's Jairo Riedewald on loan before the German transfer window slammed shut on Monday.

According to Kicker, the 22-year-old went through a medical at Paderborn, but the transfer ultimately collapsed due to 'unchangeable circumstances'.

Paderborn head of sport Martin Przondziono won't rule out that the Bundesliga club could try to land the defender again in the future, though.

"Jairo is and remains an interesting player," Przondziono told Kicker before making it clear that he is satisfied with the Paderborn squad even though it wasn't possible to get a deal to sign Riedewald over the line.

"We are still well-positioned in terms of personnel and trust our squad to play a good role in the Bundesliga," he said.

Paderborn are sitting 15th in the Bundesliga table, having taken one point from three games so far.
