Hamburger SV have sealed the signing of 16-year-old Hungarian striker Andrej Vasiljevic, beating off interest from a number of top European clubs.

The young forward will join Die Rothosen this summer from Hungarian first-division side MTK Budapest.

“We worked hard to sign Andrej and are now even more pleased with the clear commitment from him and his family to HSV,” said HSV sporting director Claus Costa.

“Andrej has a highly exciting and well-rounded striker profile: he combines classic attributes of a center-forward – size, technique and goal threat – at an exceptional level and, for his age, has demonstrated a very mature style of play.”

HSV plan to gradually integrate Vasiljevic into the professional environment.

“This transfer exemplifies the close cooperation between the professional department and the youth academy. We are confident that Andrej can take the next steps of his career successfully with us,” Costa added.

Vasiljevic has already made seven appearances for Hungary’s U21 national team, scoring once.
