Dawid Kownacki is set to undergo surgery after suffering a ligament injury in training, Fortuna Düsseldorf have announced.

According to Bild, the injury could potentially keep the Polish striker out of action for the rest of the season.

Fortuna paid €7.5 million - a club-record fee - to sign Kownacki on a permanent deal from Sampdoria in January 2020.

He has played a total of 30 games for the club, scoring four goals.
