The proposal was approved by 88.3 percent of valid votes cast at the meeting, which took place at the Sportpark Ronhof | Thomas Sommer on November 8.
The result comfortably exceeded the three-quarter majority required under the club’s statutes, officially paving the way for the name change.
The decision will see the club drop the ‘Greuther’ part of their name and return to the identity they previously competed under.
The name change will come into effect next season, meaning the club will compete as SpVgg Fürth once again from the 2027/28 campaign.
The decision marks a significant moment for the Bavarian club, with members voting overwhelmingly in favour of returning to a name closely associated with their history and identity.
