Hasebe's deal was due to expire this summer, but he has now penned a one-year extension, keeping him at the club until 2021.

In the statement, Eintracht Frankfurt also announce that the 36-year-old is set to work as a brand ambassador for the club when he hangs up his boots.

"Makoto has had an extraordinary career. The fact that he's still an important part of our team at the age of 36 is due to his great discipline and highly professional attitude.
