Makoto Hasebe inks contract extension with Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt have extended Makoto Hasebe's contract by a further year.

Makoto Hasebe has put pen to paper on a new contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, the club have revealed in a statement.


Hasebe's deal was due to expire this summer, but he has now penned a one-year extension, keeping him at the club until 2021.

In the statement, Eintracht Frankfurt also announce that the 36-year-old is set to work as a brand ambassador for the club when he hangs up his boots.

"Makoto has had an extraordinary career. The fact that he's still an important part of our team at the age of 36 is due to his great discipline and highly professional attitude. We are happy to have him in our team for the coming season and that he will proceed to become a brand ambassador for Eintracht," said Frankfurt boss Fredi Bobic.

In total, the Japanese veteran has made 201 appearances for Frankfurt with two goals and five assists to his name.
