Report: Benfica set to finalize deal to sign Luca Waldschmidt from Freiburg

Luca Waldschmidt appears to be on the verge of joining Benfica from Freiburg.

SL Benfica are close to finalizing a deal to sign Luca Waldschmidt from SC Freiburg, according to Sky Germany and Portuguese publication Record.

Waldschmidt is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year deal after agreeing personal terms with the Portuguese side.

Representatives from Benfica have travelled to Germany for talks with Freiburg over a deal worth €15 million, with just minor details left to be worked out.

The 24-year-old scored eight goals in 24 appearances for Freiburg last season. His contract with the Bundesliga side expires in 2022.
