Revealed: Fürth and Hertha maintain dual purchase options on Ngankam loan

in the midst of  confirming Jessic Ngankam's season-long loan to SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Thursday, German footballing magazine Kicker revealed that both die Kleeblätter and Hertha BSC have built-in clauses in the arrangement enabling them to lay claim to the player should he have a breakout year.

Twenty-year-old German striker Jessic Ngankam receives an excellent opportunity to accrue playing time this year after his parent club Hertha BSC and newly promoted SpVgg Greuther Fürth agreed upon a one-year-loan deal on Thursday. The player, who has been on the radar of many Bundesliga watchers for some time, should get plenty of playing time in Franconia.

"Jessic is a young player who has pace and scoring power and has been very eye-catching on the Hertha youth teams," Fürth managing director Rachid Azzouzi remarked when the deal was announced.

"He's a highly talented striker who will expand our options in attack," head-coach Stefan Leitl added, "During the negotiations we got to know him as a very down-to-earth young man who is ready to take the next step in his career with us."

In confirming the previously rumored signing, Fürth noted that they had secured a purchase option for the youngster. Interestingly enough, German footballing magazine Kicker reported that Fredi Bobic and the Hertha BSC administrative team protected their interests as well.

Hertha apparently inserted a buyback clause in the deal, meaning that "die alte Dame" can match Fürth's purchase price to return Ngankam to the capital if they deem it worthwhile.

The Berlin native currently holds an estimated market value of €1.2 million in the latest tranfermarkt.de listings. This remains an unusually high value for an actor with only 19 Bundesliga appearances. A successful campaign could see this value spike quickly.
