Rouven Schröder will succeed Roland Virkus at Borussia Mönchengladbach, the Bundesliga club officially announced this afternoon.
The 49-year-old bids farewell to RB Salzburg and will take over the vacant position as Gladbach's new sporting director.
As is often the case when it comes to transfers, the Gladbach has not disclosed the term of the contract offered to him.
"In addition to his experience, Rouven Schröder possesses the necessary skills and communication abilities required for this demanding task.
"We are convinced that, together with the sports team, he will succeed in both mastering the immediate challenges and shaping the future of sports," said managing director Stefan Stegemann.
To buy Schröder out of his contract, which runs until 2028, the Foals are reportedly paying a fee of up to €1.5million.
