FSV Mainz 05's Hyun-seok Hong will continue his season in Belgium with KAA Gent, the Bundesliga club have confirmed.

The midfielder, who was loaned from Mainz to FC Nantes last summer but saw little game time, has since left the Ligue 1 side.

Hong will now return to the club he left in the summer of 2024 to join Mainz originally, after an agreement was reached on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old will have the opportunity to return to the environment where he enjoyed the best period of his career to date.

In his 104 appearances for Gent between 2022 and 2025, Hong found the net on 18 occasions and provided 20 assists.

Gent, currently eighth-placed in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, will get the use of the South Korean until the end of the current season.
