Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck has been dropped from Real Madrid’s summer transfer shortlist, according to The Athletic.

Following the injury he suffered at the World Cup with Germany – which is expected to sideline him for several months – the 26-year-old is seemingly no longer being considered by the Spanish giants.

Just a few days ago, it was reported that the German international had fallen behind Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni in Real Madrid’s pursuit of a centre-back.

Schlotterbeck could leave Dortmund this summer for a fixed fee of €50 million, but the clause is reportedly only valid for Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Liverpool.
