Schalke 04 are finalising their first summer signing with the arrival of Satoshi Tanaka from Fortuna Düsseldorf. According to Sky, his club's relegation to 3. Liga automatically reduces the release clause for the Japanese midfielder from €10 million to only €1 million.

Sky's Florian Plettenberg also reported Schalke informed Fortuna Düsseldorf about their decision to activate the release clause on Saturday. The newly-promoted Bundesliga side will now set the date for the medical check.

A winter signing by Sven Mislintat from J1 League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Tanaka has a contract with Düsseldorf until 2030. The 23-year-old defensive midfielder isn't part of Japan's World Cup squad. He registered two assists in 13 2. Bundesliga appearances.
