As confirmed by the club, Felipe Sánchez has joined Mexican side Santos Laguna on a season-long loan from FC Schalke 04. The agreement also includes an option to make the move permanent, which will become active if the defender reaches a specified number of appearances during the 2026/27 campaign.

The 22-year-old Argentine has been under contract with Schalke since the summer of 2024. After making five appearances in the 2. Bundesliga during his debut season, the left-footed defender featured 25 times last campaign as the Royal Blues secured promotion back to the Bundesliga.

“We had a very open discussion with Felipe Sánchez about his situation and his prospects for the upcoming Bundesliga season. As a young player, Felipe needs plenty of playing time to develop. We wish him all the best and much success at Santos Laguna,” said Youri Mulder, Schalke 04’s Director of Professional Football.
