Undav fumes after loss to Leverkusen: "We always make shitty mistakes"
VfB Stuttgart were on course to win the DFL-Supercup on Saturday, leading 2-1 against Bayer Leverkusen, who were reduced to 10 men after Martin Terrier was sent off.
But much to the frustration of Deniz Undav, who scored Stuttgart's second goal, Leverkusen came back to make it 2-2 and eventually won on penalties.
"I don't give a damn about the trophy. I wanted to win the game," fumed Undav in an interview with Sky after the game.
"When you're playing against ten men and you're leading 2-1, you can't lose.
"It was the same last year. We always make shitty mistakes," grumbled Undav, who criticized a defensive lapse before Schick's 2-2 goal:
“Small mistakes are punished against Leverkusen. It really pisses me off that we lost again when we were leading 2-1.
“Maybe some players were intimidated by the atmosphere. I have no idea. Unfortunately, I don't know. That's the only reason I can think of. It can't happen at this level."
