Wanner on returning to Bayern: "It only makes sense if..."

Paul Wanner has impressed on loan at Heidenheim so far this season. Now he has opened up about a possible return to Bayern Munich next summer.

Paul Wanner, who is on loan at Heidenheim until the summer of 2025, is confident he can make his breakthrough at Bayern Munich with time.

"Bayern only have very good players, but I'd still say I'm confident. But first I have to play one year in the Bundesliga with FCH and give my best," Wanner told Kicker, adding that he's happy to be in Heidenheim at the moment.

“My first priority was to play regularly. That's not so easy for a young player at Bayern, of course, because of their world-class squad. I quickly realized that. It's been a lot of fun and very helpful so far.”

Whether he will spend next season with Bayern dependson if he has a real chance of playing.

“Otherwise I would be right back where I was before. It only makes sense if I'm one of the options [for playing time].”

Bayern at least seem to be interested in his development, with the attacking midfielder revealing that he's in regular contact with his parent club.

“[Coordinator of youth development] Richard Kitzbichler attends the games, we're in touch every week. He gives me a good feeling, tells me what went well and what I need to improve on. [Sporting director] Christoph Freund also keeps in touch with me. Bayern are doing a good job there. I can see that my development is important to them.”
