According to Sky Germany's latest transfer update, Werder Bremen are set to sign Fortuna Düsseldorf's Cedric Itten this summer.

It's already being reported that a verbal agreement in principle has been reached with the 29-year-old.

Furthermore, the striker will join the Bundesliga side on a free transfer after his contract Düsseldorf expires this month.

A medical is pending for the Swiss international who delivered an impressive 14 goals despite Düsseldorf's relegation to the 3. Liga.

The deal with Bremen is expected to go through if nothing extraordinary happens, such as a late hijack from other interested parties.

Newly promoted top-flight side Schalke 04 are also in the hunt, while second division outfit Karlsruhe SC could present an offer.
