Holstein Kiel climbed to tenth place after a 2-0 win over SC Paderborn on Sunday afternoon. Steven Skrzybski celebrated his new contract by scoring Kiel's first goal of the new year.
Lasse Rosenboom sealed the win five minutes after coming on as a substitute. Sebastian Klaas thought he reduced the deficit with 15 minutes left to play, but Paderborn’s goal was disallowed after a VAR check for offside.
There was a huge concern when Calvin Brackelmann sustained a serious neck injury as the center-back needed a stretcher to get off the pitch. Paderborn failed to create anything of note in the 16 added minutes, and they’re now dropped to fourth place.
