Five 2. Bundesliga games, five wins for home teams. After Schalke’s 2-1 victory over Hertha Berlin kicked things off last night, the action continues today with four matches played simultaneously.

Paderborn’s 2-1 win against Holstein Kiel provided a dramatic finish. The hosts were dominant for the majority of the game, but Kiel nearly took an undeserved point before Filip Bilbija’s 99th-minute winner.

Bochum also started their campaign with a defeat as both clubs who were relegated from Bundesliga witnessed the difficulty of the league. Isac Lidberg, who was courted by African Champions League winners Pyramids FC, scored a hattrick in a stunning 4-1 win for Darmstadt.

There were also five goals in the game between Karlsruher SC and Preußen Münster. The hosts were leading 2-0 inside the first 20 minutes, but Münster showed real fight to level the score ten minutes before time. Lilian Egloff scored Karlsruhe’s winner in the 88th-minute against ten-man Münster.

SV Elversberg also beat Nürnberg thanks to a 90th-minute strike from Maximilian Rohr. Arminia Bielefeld will host Fortuna Düsseldorf later tonight in the first Topspiel of the season. The matchday will be concluded with three matches tomorrow afternoon.
