€20m asking price for Hiroki Itō yet to attract interest

According to Bild, Bayern Munich would be willing to part ways with Hiroki Itō for a fee in the region of €20 million, although no concrete offers have yet been made for the 27-year-old.

Speaking about the defender’s situation, board member for sport Max Eberl stressed that the club are not actively looking to sell Itō. However, Bayern would be open to facilitating a transfer should the Japanese international feel his chances of regular first-team football have become too limited.

“If Hiroki Itō starts thinking about a move because he himself realizes that breaking into the team will be difficult, then we’ll work on that. We’ve now strengthened the left side with Nene (Nathaniel Brown) (in addition to Davies), and at centre-back we naturally have three outstanding players in Min-jae, Jona (Jonathan Tah) and Upa (Dayot Upamecano),” Eberl told Bild.

Itō’s spell at Bayern has been disrupted by injuries since his arrival from Stuttgart. Fitness issues hampered his debut campaign, while his second season also proved frustrating as he managed just 16 Bundesliga appearances. Bayern’s recent additions have only increased the competition for places across the back line.

With a month still remaining in the transfer window, Itō’s future is far from settled. The key question now is whether he chooses to remain in Munich and fight for his place or seek a move elsewhere in search of more regular playing time.
