Burkardt edges closer to Frankfurt move

Eintracht Frankfurt are closing in on the signature of German international Burkardt.

Eintracht Frankfurt and 1. FSV Mainz have reportedly reached a full agreement for the transfer of Jonathan Burkardt this summer. Multiple reports suggest the clubs will have final talks on Friday, but German journalist Julius Schamburg now reports that all that’s left now is mere formality.

Burkardt already communicated his decision to join the Eagles to his teammates. The 24-year-old enjoyed his best-ever season after coming back from a serious injury as his 18 Bundesliga goals propelled Mainz to European qualification.

Before leaving the camp due to an injury, he was once again part of Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for the UEFA Nations League final phase. Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike is heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, while Mainz have already signed Benedict Hollerbach from Union Berlin.
