Despite appeals from the player himself for leniency, Niklas Dorsch will miss his team's next two league fixtures against RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach. Dorsch employed a vicious stomp on Mainz midfielder Kaishu Sano's heel and was sent off in the 80th minute.

Though it appeared unintentional, the DFB's disciplinary arm still deemed the incident an exceptional "brutish play against an opponent". Dorsch remains eligible for the upcoming Conference League home game against Olimpija Ljubljana on Thursday.
