Borussia Dortmund have reportedly stepped out of the race for 1. FC Köln youngster Said El Mala.

According to Sky Germany, the Black and Yellows have decided to end their pursuit of the 19-year-old for now after their latest offer was rejected by 1. FC Köln.

Sky Germany reported on Thursday that BVB had submitted a fresh bid for El Mala worth up to €55 million.

The offer included a fixed fee of less than €50 million, but could have reached around that figure through “realistically achievable bonuses,” according to the German broadcaster.

However, the bid couldn't convince Köln to sell, with the Billy Goats insisting on receiving at least €50 million in guaranteed money for their prized asset.

As a result, it now appears that the proposed transfer is off – unless Köln decide to lower their demands before the transfer window closes.
