Frankfurt reach DFB-Pokal second round with 11-goal thrashing of SC St.Tönis

Eintracht Frankfurt punched their ticket for the second round of the DFB-Pokal with a dominant 11-0 victory over SC St.Tönis 1911/20 this evening. Ten of the Hessen giants' goals came in a simply ruthless first-half display.
In their first competitive game under the tutelage of Adi Hütter, a pair of Frankfurt corners delivered by Can Uzun six minutes apart put them 2-0 up. Jonathan Burkardt and Robin Koch finding the net with their heads.
The Bundesliga side would rattle in two more before the half-hour mark when Amaimouni Echghouyab found space to pick out the lower left corner. Twelve minutes later, Keita Kosugi delivered to set up Burkardt for his brace.
In what essentially became shooting practice for Frankfurt, Uzun rattled in a quick fire brace after some effective link up play and pressing. Burkhardt had time to net a first-half hattrick after Pohlig essentially teed up the striker.
The first-half slaughter was brought to an end at 10-0 which only highlighted the gulf in class. Elias Baum thrashed home, Younes Ebnoutalib was gifted a tap-in and Mario Götze joined the seemingly endless rout.
St.Tönis almost bagged a consolation goal upon the game's restart as Frankfurt took the foot off the gas. Lenni Castrop looked to have time to pick his spot, but Robin Koch scrambled back to produce a block.
Thereafter, Hütter decided to give invaluable minutes to youngsters. Jeremiah Maluze and Malik Pimpong took in the last 20 minutes. Farès Chaïbi also replaced Götze and bagged a goal to add more gloss to the 11-0 victory.
