According to Danish sources Tipsbladet, Borussia Mönchengladbach are hoping to further bolster their defensive options.

The name Lukas Kirkegaard is reportedly high on Gladbach's list of transfer targets whom they intend to lure to the Rhineland club.

Reportedly, the Foals have already submitted an initial offer of €3.5million for the 20-year-old, which Viborg FF promptly rejected.

The Danish first division club hopes to achieve a new club-record transfer fee from the sale of the young center-back.

Gladbach would therefore have to pay at least €4.5million – a figure that the Bundesliga side currently appears unwilling forgo.

Kirkegaard is under contract with Viborg until 2028. Last season, he made 25 appearances in all competitions, becoming a regular starter.
