Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann is impressed with the progress Nick Woltemade has made in recent years.

In just around a year and a half, the 23-year-old has won the DFB-Pokal with VfB Stuttgart, reached the final of the U21 European Championship, emerged as a regular starter for Germany’s senior team and secured a big-money move to Newcastle United.

Much to Nagelsmann’s delight, the striker seems to have hit the ground running in England, having scored six goals in 14 games for his new club so far.

“His development has been very positive. Moving to another country, where a different style of football is played, is never entirely easy. He has already scored a few times, feels comfortable in the city, and I think the overall situation feels great for both him and us," said Nagelsmann at a press conference on Thursday.

"He is an excellent player who quickly went from the U21 European Championship final to becoming a regular starter with us. He is currently in high demand because he is performing very well and has already found the net. I hope he continues like this [against Luxembourg] tomorrow (Friday) and [against Slovakia] on Monday. I am very pleased with him.”
