Kehl reacts to Süle exit links

Borussia Dortmund's sporting director Sebastian Kehl has responded to a report from Sky Germany suggesting that the club are ready to offload Niklas Süle this summer.

Sky Germany recently reported that Borussia Dortmund are open to the idea of selling Niklas Süle this summer.

However, sporting director Sebastian Kehl insists that Dortmund are pleased to have the centre-back, who is under contract until 2026.

“We are really happy that we have three really strong central defenders in Schlotterbeck, Süle and Mats Hummels. Niklas certainly hasn't been getting the playing time he wanted and hoped for this season. But it's also up to him to give everything he's got. He did that [against Augsburg on Saturday],” Kehl told Sky Germany.

“Whenever he's needed, he's always there for us. So he is going to be an important part of the team. We haven't had any discussions in that direction. To be honest, it's not my concern at the moment.”

Süle has made 29 appearances for BVB this season. He has often had to settle for the bench recently, as Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck have emerged as BVB coach Edin Terzic's preferred pairing at the heart of defense.
