Sunderland are reportedly attempting a late swoop for FC Augsburg attacker Alexis Claude-Maurice.

According to Sky Germany, the Premier League outfit submitted an offer for the Frenchman at around 22:30 CEST.

It remains unclear whether Claude-Maurice is a late priority target for Sunderland or a backup option should their move for Malick Fofana collapse.

If Sunderland are to get a deal for Claude-Maurice over the line, they will have to move quickly, with the English transfer window closing at midnight CEST.

The German transfer window closed at 20:00 CEST, but German clubs can still sell players to leagues where the transfer window remains open.
