Kicker understand Christian Eriksen is likely to hang up his boots after the medical emergency incident in Denmark’s friendly game last month. According to “kicker”, a return to professional football is currently “far away” for the 34-year-old.

Since he’s still under contract with VfL Wolfsburg, the 2. Bundesliga side are in regular contact with the player. Eriksen previously had a similar medical incident during the European Championships in 2021.

With Maximilian Arnold’s absence, Eriksen has captained Wolfsburg since mid-March. He joined the club as a free agent after the end of his contract at Manchester United. Wolfsburg will start their season in two weeks following their first-ever relegation to 2. Bundesliga.
