    1. FC Köln hope to finalize the signings of Jonjoe Kenny and Joël Monteiro in the coming days. The newly-promoted side intensified their preparation for the new season, which started with the signings of Ragnar Ache and Ísak Jóhannesson following their impressive 2. Bundesliga showings.

Englishman Kenny is not a stranger to German football, but he’ll now be a free agent when his Hertha Berlin contract expires at the end of the month. The right-back played over a century of Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga games for the capital city club and Schalke.

Local newspaper “Express” also linked Young Boys winger Monteiro with Köln. The 25-year-old scored seven goals this campaign before a torn ankle ligament prematurely ended his season. A transfer fee of €2-3 million is reported by the newspaper as the discussion reaches an advanced stage.
