As we turn the corner into the second half of the season, Borussia Dortmund trail Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich by 11 points.

Regarding competition to keep pace with the Bavarian side, BVB coach Niko Kovač explained what he feels is an improbable task.

“We cannot challenge Bayern, I think everyone can see that," the 54-year-old said, at his press conference ahead of facing Werder Bremen.

'Bayern are not only first in the Bundesliga, but they are also right up there [near the top of the table] in the Champions League.

'That means this team has a class of their own, which is not to be seen in the rest of the Bundesliga at the moment.

"We know in the end where Bayern shop and where we shop. That is how it is. We all have to accept it.

“I said at the start of the season that we want to secure top 4 [league position] as quickly as possible,” Kovač said, highlighting their goals.
