Martin Demichelis opened the doors for Arthur Vermeeren staying at RB Leipzig as he expects the midfielder to convince him during the pre-season preparations. Vermeeren spent last season on loan at Olympique de Marseille.

"He (Vermeeren) is a very interesting player and must show what he can do. My job is to find out who delivers the best performance for the team,” Demichelis said as Leipzig continued their preparation for the upcoming season with a narrow win over Ingolstadt.

"After the fifth or sixth week of preseason training, we'll talk with Marcel [Schäfer]." said the Argentine coach regarding the future of players returning from loan deals. The six-time Belgian international played 39 games for the club he joined in an initial loan deal in 2024.

Meanwhile, Tidiam Gomis ruled out a summer departure from the club. "I'm not thinking about a transfer, not even on a loan deal." said the 19-year-old in a flash interview with Sky Sports after the friendly win. The French midfielder played 30 games for Leipzig since joining them from the then-Ligue 2 club SM Caen for €1 million at the start of 2025.
