Bochum bring in Swedish keeper as new #2

VfL Bochum have brought in Swedish goalkeeper Marko Johansson on loan from Hamburger SV.
Newly installed VfL Bochum sporting director Patrick Fabian quickly got his first chance to pose with a new signing following his introduction at a Thursday presser. The Bundesliga's current last-placed club have reacted to a recent shoulder injury sustained by back-up keeper Paul Grave by bringing in HSV net-minder Marko Johansson on loan.

The former Sweden youth international is somewhat new to German football himself. Brough in from Mälmo last year to back-up Daniel Heuer Fernandes, the 24-year-old made seven appearances for die Rothosen. While VfL #1 Manuel Riemann's starting job doesn't appear to be at risk, there have been several form dips from during the last season and in this young campaign.

Additionally some of Riemann's post-match comments on his instagram after conceding a penalty in last Friday's loss to Freiburg left some in German footballing circles wondering whether why the veteran had wish deliberately made a distraction out of himself. Johansson could presumably get a trial soon at Germany's top footballing level.

"Marko is a young goalkeeper who has a lot of experience at senior level," Bochum's new manager said at the unveiling ceremony, " Marko has played over 60 games in Sweden's top league. He will be able to bring his quality to us at the highest level, so we are well positioned at the goalkeeper position."

According to German footballing magazine Kicker, Bochum have secured a purchase option on the deal.
