Eberl set to be named new Bayern board member for sport, per Sky

According to Sky Germany, it seems to be only a matter of time before Max Eberl is appointed as Bayern's new board member for sport.
Bayern Munich are set to appoint Max Eberl as their new board member for sport, according to Sky Germany.

The report claims that the appointment is to be officially approved at the next supervisory board meeting at the end of February, with Eberl expected to start work in March at the latest.

It's reported that Bayern will pay a fee below €5 million to buy Eberl out of his contract with Leipzig, who dismissed the 50-year-old as managing director for sport in September after links linking him with the Bavarians intensified.

The role of board member for sport at Bayern was last held by Hasan Salihamidzic, who was sacked at the end of last season.

After retiring from playing, Eberl spent most of his career as sporting director at Borussia Mönchengladbach. He left that role in January 2022, citing mental exhaustion as the reason for his resignation.
