Wout Weghorst has been a huge success in Germany since joining VfL Wolfsburg from AZ Alkmaar in a €10,5 million deal last summer, scoring 13 goals in 28 games for 'Die Wölfe' so far.

The striker now reveals that Wolfsburg coach Bruno Labbadia put his faith in him from the beginning while other Bundesliga clubs were unsure about his qualities.

"First and foremost, I'm very grateful to him. He signed me, and he told me that he believed in me long before the transfer was done and dusted. Other Bundesliga clubs had doubts about my qualities," Weghorst told 11 Freunde.

Weghorst, 26, will have to say goodye to Labbadia at the end of the season, though. It has been announced that the coach will leave Wolfsburg when his contract runs out in the summer, and it's currently uncertain who will replace him.
