Fantasy Bundesliga tips: Midfielders to consider for the second half of the season
In this article, we take a look at the midfielders you should consider bringing into your Fantasy Bundesliga team for the start of the second half of the season.
With the Bundesliga finally returning from the winter break this Friday, it's time to take a fresh look at your Fantasy Bundesliga team.
The unlimited transfer window will be open until the start of Matchday 18, so you can make all the changes you want.
Below, we take a look at the options in midfield.
Laszlo Benes (Gladbach, 3.6M) is an extremely cheap way into the Gladbach midfield – if he plays. With Lars Stindl and Jonas Hofmann having fought their way back from injury, the 22-year-old's playing time could be more limited after the winter break.
Fredrik Jensen (Augsburg, 4.6M) did very well for Augsburg towards the end of 2019 and is still worth keeping an eye on. While the Finnish international remains a contender for the starting eleven, he now faces competition from new signing Eduard Löwen as well as Alfred Finnbogason who has returned from injury.
Robert Andrich (Union Berlin 4.9M) costs just about the same as Jensen and should definitely start for Union Berlin. The central midfielder picked up 104 points in the first half of the season which certainly isn't bad considering his low price tag.
Tyler Adams (RB Leipzig, 6.3M), who recently said he finally feels back at 100 percent after struggling with injuries this season so far, might get to play a prominent role in midfield for RB Leipzig now that Diego Demme has departed the club for Napoli. The 20-year-old is a quite defensively oriented midfielder, so he might not pick up that many points despite playing regularly, though.
Alphonso Davies (Bayern München, 6.4M) should continue at left-back for Bayern München and is surely an option to consider despite being playing in defence.
Amine Harit (Schalke 04, 9.6M) remains a great long-term option at 9.6 million. It's also worth considering Harit's new teammate Michael Gregoritsch (Schalke 04, 9.7M) who could be a nice differential after joining 'The Royal Blues' on loan from Augsburg. Gregoritsch is expected to play alongside Benito Raman up top and has previously shown that he knows how to find the back of the net. While Harit and Gregoritsch are both attractive Fantasy options, it's worth noting that Schalke are set to face tough opposition against Gladbach and Bayern München in their first two games after the winter break.
Freiburg, on the other hand, have a nice run of fixtures coming up. Janik Haberer (Freiburg, 7.9M) is a solid mid-price option, but you should go for Vincenzo Grifo (Freiburg, 11M) if you can afford him. The 26-year-old, who is on penalty duty, scored in his last two games of 2019 and has the potential to score big in his upcoming games.
Leon Goretzka (Bayern München, 12.4M) is back from injury and will look to rediscover his goal-scoring form of the 2018/19 season that saw him find the net eight times in the Bundesliga. With Serge Gnabry (Bayern München, 17.9M) unlikely to be fit to start against Hertha, Philippe Coutinho (Bayern München, 18.4M) is the most attractive premium midfielder from Bayern. The Brazilian international has started to shine since Hansi Flick took over as Bayern coach and has the potential to pick up plenty of points on a good day as shown in his team's 6-1 thrashing of Werder Bremen on Matchday 15 that saw him rack up three goals and two assists.
Marcel Sabitzer (RB Leipzig, 14.8M) is the third highest-scoring midfielder of the game so far and remains a great pick.
Filip Kostic (Frankfurt, 17M) has been the top scoring Fantasy midfielder so far, picking up 209 points so far. Kostic's price is a little steep, but the fact that Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter has suggested he could move the 27-year-old from the wing-back to the wing certainly doesn't make him less attractive.
After a disappointing first half of the season, the Bayer Leverkusen bosses have backed Kai Havertz (Leverkusen, 17.4M) to rediscover his top level in 2020. The 20-year-old has looked sharp in Leverkusen's preparations for the Bundesliga return and could get off to a great start, with tasty fixtures against Paderborn and Fortuna Düsseldorf coming up.
With games against Augsburg, Union Berlin and FC Köln coming up, Borussia Dortmund also have favorable fixture list. Marco Reus (Dortmund, 18.7M) and Jadon Sancho (Dortmund, 19.4M) are both excellent options, and you would be wise to include at least one of them in your squad for Matchday 18.
