Report: Hofmann may miss several weeks with torn thigh muscle cluster
Early reports surfacing about Borussia Mönchengladbach's Jonas Hofmann point to an extended spell on the sidelines for the 28-year-old midfielder.
Germany's FA announced on Thursday that central midfielder Jonas Hofmann tore a cluster of thigh muscles in Wednesday's 1-0 friendly victory over the Czech Republic. The severity of such an injury ordinarily translates to well over a month on the injured reserve.
His stint with the national team clearly over, Hofmann reported back to his club on Thursday for further analysis. A scintillating run of form saw the former Dortmund and Hoffenheim prospect break into the German Nationalmannschaft for the first time ever in October at a comparatively advanced age.
Hofmann had already tallied for times and racked up five assists across all competitions for Gladbach this season.
