During the summer, Alassane Pléa joined Borussia Mönchengladbach from OGC Nice for €23 million, thus becoming the most expensive signing in the club's history.

Pléa says he also faced interest from England, where he could have made more money, but he decided to give he yes to Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl.

"There were other possibilities too. For example England - a good league in which I could have made more money. But Borussia were the first club that tried to sign me, and as other clubs came on the scene, I kept the word that I gave Max Eberl," Pléa told Kicker and added:

"I think the Bundesliga is great. I always watched the league on TV. I like the offensive attitude of the teams. There are plenty of goals, and many strikers, who came from France to Germany, experienced a great development - like Aubameyang and Modeste."

The French striker also explains that current Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre - his coach at Nice last season - advised him to join Gladbach.

"We talked about Gladbach when my transfer was being discussed. He advised me to join Borussia, because he said it was the right club for me," Pléa said.

Favre served as Gladbach coach from 2011 to 2015 before joining Nice in 2016.
