Stuttgart updates: Newcomer Führich fractures collarbone, Wataru Endo named club's new skipper

Unfortunate news out of Stuttgart as newly acquired attacker Chris Führich suffered a shoulder injury in a Friday test fixture.

The club later confirmed on twitter that the 23-year-old has a broken collar bone and is scheduled for major surgery.

In other VfB team news, trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo revealed his choice to lead the team this year as captain.

Not four days after procuring much needed offensive assistance for the right flank, it looks as VfB Stuttgart will have to devise another solution. Newly acquired winger Chris Führich fractured his collarbone in a Friday warm-up match and will be out indefinitely.

The Swabians confirmed Führich's grim diagnosis via the official twitter feed. Such a procedure will likely sideline the 23-year-old for months. The Württemberg club must now find another attacker to fill the role of the injured Silas Kotompa Mvupa and the departed Nicolas Gonzalez.

On the topic of departed players, head-coach Pellegrino Matarazzo also confirmed his long-awaited replacement for released former captain Gonzalo Castro. A player many Bundesliga watchers had an absolute blast watching last season will now don the armband.

Matarazzo explained his choice of Wataru Endo by calling him "a player who takes everyone with him, embodies the values of the club, leads by example, allows space for others, and always takes responsibility."
