Bayer Leverkusen have finalized one of the big transfers they’ve planned in the final weeks of the summer market. Claudio Echeverri has signed a one-year loan deal from Manchester City, while they’re also hopeful to extend his stay for the 2026/27 season.

Echeverri scored against Al-Ain in the Club World Cup, but he only played the first-half of the game as he suffered a tournament-ending injury shortly after his sublime free-kick strike. He only featured three times for Pep Guardiola’s side after joining them last January from River Plate.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder scored four goals in 48 appearances for the Argentinian giants. El Diablito scored five goals for Argentina in the 2023 U20 World Cup, where they lost in the final to Germany.
