According to a report by Soccernews.nl, RB Leipzig has expressed concrete interest in TSG Hoffenheim's Wouter Burger.

The club from Saxony have reportedly already informed the midfielder and his representatives of their desire to explore signing him.

Furthermore, the report from the Dutch source adds that official contact from Leipzig made towards Hoffenheim is expected soon.

Burger – whose contract runs until 2030 having just signed from Stoke City in summer – could demand a substantial transfer fee.

It remains to be seen whether Leipzig's management considers Burger an alternative to Rocco Reitz or is aiming to sign both players.

Leipzig are working intensively on a deal with Reitz, and an agreement with the 23-year-old has already been reached.
