Ayodele Thomas joined RB Leipzig from PSV Eindhoven with a long-term contract until the end of the 2030-31 season. The 18-year-old attacker has yet to play a game in senior football. Leipzig signed the left winger for the first team as he’ll wear the number 21 for one of the clubs fighting for a Champions League spot.
Thomas recently scored and registered an assist in a 2-2 draw for PSV U21 against their Manchester City counterparts in the Premier League International Cup. According to reports, the transfer fee is only €400k for the player who also spent some time in Feyenoord’s youth setup.
“Dele (Ayodele Thomas) is a great talent who fits perfectly with our playing philosophy: He’s a fast, skillful, and agile winger who always seeks out one-on-one situations. He also shows a good eye for goal, likes to shoot, and often provides crucial assists. We’re bringing him in now to give him the necessary time to settle in, but also to add more depth to our wing play.” said Leipzig’s managing director of sport Marcel Schäfer.
The 18-year-old talks about his excitement after completing the move on deadline day. “I’m very happy to be a part of RB Leipzig from now on,” said Ayodele Thomas in his first interview as a Leipzig player.
“The club’s philosophy and playing style are perfect fits for me and my goals. I want to use the first few weeks and months to learn from my teammates and the coaching staff, and to settle in as best as possible at the club and in the city of Leipzig. I want to prove myself in the Bundesliga. I’m ready and willing to give my all on the pitch. Thank you to everyone who made this transfer possible.”
